WHAT IS IT ?
The Opportunities: The Canadian School Volunteer Network web site lists and describes 17 areas of need in which volunteers could be helpful in a school. Each area clearly and concisely identifies the way a volunteer benefits the school program and examples of specific activities that are available.
HOW DO YOU USE IT ?
Use this to begin thinking of ways you may be helpful in your child's school. It will expand your awareness of the opportunities for you to be involved.

Use this site as you are trying to determine the way/s to participate in your child's school experience. It will provide very specific information about each possibility.
WHY DO YOU USE IT?
This information is helpful because it is difficult for parents who are not familiar with a school setting to be fully aware of all the opportunities and needs within a school. This site provides such information.
WHO DO YOU INVOLVE?
Use this information with other parents (i.e. friends and parent organizations) and with school staff as a way of informing and encouraging participation and partnership between schools and parents.
ACTIVITY
- Identify 5 areas of need where you could contribute your skills to your child's school.
- Talk with a teacher/administrator/staff member at your child's school about how you might be helpful.

This Web site is hosted by the Colorado Anti-Bullying Project.
