WHAT IS IT ?

Question MarkThe Parental Involvement Pledge is a site with two components. It provides an opportunity for parents to formalize their commitment to working with their child's school through a pledge they can complete and take to their child's school. It also provides a survey of their interests they may then also share with the school. It is prepared by Project Appleseed, a part of the National Campaign for Public School Improvement.

HOW DO YOU USE IT ?

Question MarkThis site provides a tool that you may share with staff and parent organizations as a way of recruiting volunteers and appropriately connecting them with specific needs and activities.

WHEN DO YOU USE IT?

Question MarkUse it when you want to encourage parents to volunteer or when you want teachers to invite and encourage parental involvement.

WHY DO YOU USE IT?

Question MarkThis survey provides a concrete way of helping parents volunteer because it allows them to choose very specific activities. It is easier to get a commitment and follow-through if it is clear exactly what is being asked and what is expected.

WHO DO YOU INVOLVE?

Question MarkUse this with parents, parent groups, and staff as a tool and encouragement for parental involvement.

ACTIVITY

  1. Complete the survey, identifying 5 areas you have interest and/or skills.
  2. Complete the survey, choosing one of your areas of interests/skills to offer to your child's school as a volunteer.
