As the most visible and vital members of the school community - the very reason why schools exist - students play a critical role in improving the safety of American schools. If students are granted the ability and incentive to take more personal responsibility in their own school environment, they can better help affect change and improve safety concerns from inside the school. In exchange, students need to learn about and understand safety concerns (such as what to do in a crisis), be proactive in assisting school administrators and School Resource Officers, and stay involved through peer mediation and anti-bullying programs.
In this category you will find contextualized learning materials about the causes and solutions to safety issues such as bullying, drug and alcohol use, and peer mediation, plus links to other resources useful in involving students in your school's safety plan.
